Prettying Up the Sink

Hi friends,
I hope you're having a good week. I am in Virginia supporting my parents as my mom is in the hospital recovering from her surgery on Monday. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes for her- please keep them coming, we need them. :)

I decided it was high time to add a little pretty to our kitchen sink area. I dug out a blue fish plate and blue/green fish bowl to pretty up the area:

Blessings to you my friends. Hope the rest of your week goes well.

Spicing up that Sassy Girl's Room

Hi friends,
I hope you're having a great weekend! Here's a little peek into my daughter Bryce's room. She's a 6 year old who has been asking for months when we are going to 'spice up' her room. Well, we are tackling other projects right now, but we did temporarily 'spice up' her room recently. We added three inexpensive paper lanterns that light up softly at night and vintage Barbie pictures from an old calendar to frames we already had. Hold on honey, we will really 'spice up' your room soon, we promise. See what you think about her room currently:

Here's Bryce's room as of last July:

Her closet is insane:

Dear Friends,
On a more serious note, I need your prayers. My mom is having surgery on Monday, June 25, and she needs your prayers. If you are a praying person, please pray for Deborah and her upcoming surgery. My mom is a very special person in my life and I truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I believe in the power of uplifting each other in prayers.

Here is my mom, daughter, and I before we saw the muscial Mary Poppins

Here's a prayer I came across:
“God the Father, have mercy on Deborah. God the Son, have mercy on Deborah. God the Holy Spirit, grant Deborah peace. Bless Deborah, Your beloved child, as she enters surgery, so that, no matter what happens, she is secure in Your love. Comfort all who wait for news of Deborah’s surgery, and remind them they are not alone in You. Amen.”

I welcome you to share your needs for prayer with me and I would be honored to add you to my prayer list.
Thank you and God Bless YOU-

Pillow Crazy

Hi friends,
Thank you so much for joining me today.

I feel like I should start today's post with a confession:
"Hi, my name is Megan. I am obsessed with pillows. I have a pillow fetish. Well, not that kind of fetish, I just happen to love decorating with pillows. And I like to spice it up so that means swapping out the pillows occasionally, well, I mean a lot!"

It's true. I do love pillows! I probably think about pillows entirely too much. I check out new pillows online at my favorite stores and in decorating magazines. Whenever I watch HGTV, I'm always searching for pillow inspiration. I'm embarassed to show you my pillow collection in my attic. My old pillows have to go somewhere, right? Occasionally, the old pillows get recycled and are invited to rejoin our living quarters once again. Sadly, some pillows stay in the attic until they finally get to be recycled as the pillow form for a new pillow covering. That's how I'm trying to contain my love of pillows now- just purchasing a pillow covering and then reusing an old pillow. Pottery Barn is awesome for selling pillow coverings- they're far less expensive than buying a fully formed pillow with insides. I'm also buying fabric and making my own pillows too.

Having said entirely too much on the topic of pillows, I just had to share a few new pillow friends that joined The Brew Crew household this week to help us welcome summer.

Check out these beauties:

I am liking the casualness of the pillows. They're giving off a very summery vibe. I think they're perfect for summer. They're very soft- great for laying on while curling up with a book or for laying your head on while watching a movie. For fall, I'll probably bring down warmer pillows from the attic. What do you think?

Blue Starfish

Hi friends,
How is your week going? Is it super hot like it is here in North Carolina? If so, how are you surviving? The Brew Crew is making through the heat with lots of pool time and the occasional ice cream. In fact it's almost too hot to even go to the pool. We were so spoiled by such lovely low humidity weather the last couple of weeks. Well, hello summer! And heat!

I wanted to share a peak from my home that has become a favorite of mine from my hallway to my home office. I am still really digging my DIY painted wide blue stripe curtains especially when I see them near my blue starfish pillow:

I hope summer is treating you well so far, friends. What are your plans this summer? Taking a trip to the beach? Have some new books that you're dying to read? Hoping to host or attend a barbeque? I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Happy decorating & living,
Megan

Signs of Summer

Hi friends,
How are you? How is your week going so far? It was super hot in Raleigh, North Carolina today. The kids had me pull out the good ole' slip and slide and put in on our little hill in the backyard then they played in the sprinkler. They had a ball! It was a nice break from the neighborhood pool which I'm sure we'll head back to tomorrow. After that we all took baths/showers early and had popcorn and fruit/veggies for dinner. That's a pretty awesome night in their book! Mine too! We had my parents visiting us for Father's Day this past weekend and now they're gone. Steve's on a business trip too so it's just the Three Musketeers now.

I wanted to share some signs of summer that I've brought into our home lately. What are the signs of summer where you are?

Happy Summer!
I hope you have a summer filled with fun, laughter, and relaxation.
