About Megan

Hi friends,
Thanks for joining me at Cottage Blue. My name is Megan Law Brewer. I'm a forty year oldish (somewhere in that decade) mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, educator, decorator, walker, tea drinker (especially Chai), wine lover, reader, beach lover, and more.

Here's my handy husband who does all the painting in our home and shares my love of design and decorating. He's an awesome landscaper as well. Isn't he cute?

Here's my family at our favorite place a few years ago, the beach in South Carolina:

I love decorating! It's one of my passions that fills my bucket. My mom told me that even as young as about 7 years old when my parents would go out for the night and leave me home with a babysitter, I would rearrange the furniture in my bedroom. She said she would be shocked that her little daughter could move huge heavy mahogany bedroom furniture all by herself. Well, where's there a will, there's a way. I have been 'spicing it up' ever since!

Recently, I've worked on my Redesign and Home Staging certifications online. I attended Elon University in North Carolina majoring in psychology. Then earned two Masters of Education, one from Marymount University and another from the University of Virginia (this one related to being a mathematics specialist). I currently work as an educational consultant and travel throughout the country coaching elementary teachers and teaching courses all centered around mathematics. It's also my passion that students learn mathematics in a way that makes sense and makes understanding the center of all learning.

My decorating philosopy is that you deserve a beautiful home that is a relaxing place to get rejuvenated to take on your passions. I describe my decorating style as Coastal Cottage Chic. I love the beach, love the relaxed and comfortable nature of cottages, and love a little chic sparkle. I believe that decorating is organic and ever changing. I love 'spicing it up' in our home and placing a piece of furniture in a new room or changing out the pillows. I love to be inspired to tackle a new decorating project that requires a paint brush, sewing machine, or glue gun. Luckily, my husband, Steve, shares this philosophy with me.

My blog is a place for me to share my thoughts, feelings, and ideas. It's my creative dumping ground.

Thanks for reading about me. I'd love to learn about you. Please share with me all about yourself at meganlawbrewer@yahoo.com
Happy decorating & living,
Megan
